Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba has proven integral in strengthening relations between the United States and his county, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Since he assumed the position in July of 2008, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba has enhanced the UAE’s security, made improvements in imposing export control laws, organized counter proliferation efforts with allies, and strengthened trade relationships between the UAE and private sector entities. Recognizing his significant accomplishments, the National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce recently honored Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba as Ambassador of the Year.

An accomplished leader, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba formerly operated as senior counsel to His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Director of International Affairs in the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. During this time, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba also served as Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. Integral to his nation’s anti-terrorism efforts, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba acted as a go-between with other governments to enhance security and defense cooperation.

Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba pursued his education at Cairo American College in Egypt, and later attended Georgetown University where he earned a degree in International Relations. An accomplished leader, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba also participated in the fellowship program at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at Washington’s National Defense University.
